What is a language placement test?

Have you ever wondered what your level is in the language you are learning? It is not easy to judge our own language abilities. Eszett has thus created a language placement test to objectively assess your level.

How does the placement test work?

The language test is conducted online and is entirely free of charge. It takes 15-30 minutes to complete and consists of 80 questions. This number reflects the fact that the greater the amount of data you input, the more accurately we can assess your language level.

What are the benefits of the language placement test?

As soon as you have completed the test, the results will immediately be made available to you. In this way, you can already begin the necessary next steps to start your language training.

Select the right class for you

It is particularly important for group learning that all students are approximately at the same level so that all students can learn at the same speed. For one-on-one language lessons, it is helpful for your teacher to have an indication of your command of the language so that lessons can be adapted accordingly. Lessons which are too advanced are too challenging and can thus be demoralising. Lessons which are too easy halt progress.  

Teacher assessment

In addition to the online placement test, an assessment with one of Eszett’s teachers is available. This will typically involve a few questions in the target language or a few exercises, which may include grammar, reading or writing. Keep in mind that the purpose of the test is not to see how well you respond under pressure, but rather to give you an accurate reflection of your language level so that you can be placed in the best class for your personal or business needs.
